Cosplay
What is cosplay you ask? Well, it's one of the most popular sub-cultures in Japan and America. You might recognize it if you happen to be at a Comic or Anime convention. Cosplaying is dressing up like your favorite character of an anime or an idol or some kind of iconic being that is widely know. There are many types of cosplay, but I'll just keep it simple and slipt it into two categories: American cosplay and Japanese cosplay.
American cosplay can be described as dressing up as certain characters widely known in America such as Spiderman, Superman, Star Wars characters, etc.. Japanese cosplay can be described as dressing up as anime characters, video game characters, idols,and lolita and gothic fashions. You can find most Japanese cosplayers in the streets of Harujuku, a famous district in tokyo known for it's cosplaying community. Most cosplayers in america can be found in conventions such as San Japan which is held every year in our very own community. Here's a video and some pictures below:
