Our goal is to find out if Popular culture is the most effective way for us to become interested in a certain foreign country. Being interested in a country also means you are good terms with the country. Lets look at it the other way around.
The Japanese,just like other countrys, see us as a land of movie stars and Hollywood and violent movies and fat rich violent people. They know our music, our language and even learn about our history. It makes the United States seem narrow minded and non interested in other countries. That's our problem, the image of the United States. Other countries learn our language. Why cant we learn theirs? Knowing about other countries customs and being aware of their importance shows respect to a country.
